Billie Piper: 'I Fear I've Ruined My Career With Topless Scenes'

Billie Piper fears she may have blown her chances of Hollywood stardom by going topless in a role as a high-class prostitute.

The 'Doctor Who' actress' Diary Of A Call Girl series, in which she stars as Belle de Jour, has pulled in record viewing figures in the US.

But Piper, 25, fears she went too far for the American audience.

She explains, "Someone said the other day, rather viciously, 'What A-list stars get their t**s out?'

"And then I started thinking, 'Oh, my God, what have I done? I've ruined my future career.'

"You know, you get photographed on the beach topless. After all, theyre only breasts."

But a boss at US cable channel Showtime, which screened the series, said, "Billie has the looks and ability to make it very big in Hollywood."

Pregnant Billie is now filming a second series.

Melodic and attention-getting emo rock dance band the Dangerous Summer formed in Ellicott City, Maryland in August 2006. Guitarist Cody Payne stirred back into township after a brief clock time in Florida, recruiting trey of his longtime high schooltime buddies to bring together up with him upon his return. Taking their name from the classic Ernest Hemingway novel and look to groups like the Starting Line, Third Eye Blind, U2, and Name Taken for influence, the group -- which further included AJ Perdomo (leash vocals, bass), Bryan Czap (guitar) and Tyler Minsberg (drums) -- reach the studio that December to lay down their first tracks together. The resulting EP There Is No Such Thing As Science was self-released in January 2007 (limited to 1,000 copies), and the Dangerous Summer supported it on the road whenever school would admit, hooking up on shows with like-minded bands the Ataris, Cartel and Hit the Lights. The EP finally made its way into the ears of California-based Hopeless Records courtesy of the band's hometown friends All Time Low. A cover with the label was subsequently inked that spring. High school graduation followed for three-fourths of the Dangerous Summer ahead their following EP (and Hopeless debut), If You Could Only Keep Me Alive, appeared in August, which contained quartet songs from the previous Science EP and troika new ones. Struggling Yankees Attracting Record-setting Audiences

Despite the fact that the New York Yankees have exhibited a plethora of weaknesses during the first half of the current season and are 6 1/2 games behind arch-enemies the Boston Red Sox, which leads their division, viewership for the Yankees' games on the YES (Yankees Entertainment and Sports) Network has never been better. Broadcasting & Cable observed that Sunday's telecast of the Yankees versus the Kansas City Royals game drew a 6.5 rating, the second highest rated game (Red Sox games excepted) that has ever been broadcast on the Network.

Cancer-Stricken Swayze Returning To Work

Despite dire reports about his health -- he has been receiving treatments for pancreatic cancer -- and tabloid photos of him looking gaunt and haggard, Patrick Swayze plans to return to work on the A&E series The Beast, published reports said Friday. In the series, Swayze plays an FBI agent whose methods are so unorthodox that he is hounded by the bureau's internal-affairs department. "I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multilayered, unpredictable and downright entertaining," Swayze said in a statement Friday. Meanwhile, the TVNewser website reported on Sunday that Nightline correspondent Martin Bashir will return to work after doctors discovered a "small growth" on his pituitary gland. The website cited an ABC News spokesperson as saying that doctors plan to monitor the situation from month to month.

ALANIS MORISSETTE

“Flavors of Entanglement” (Warner Bros.): C

Ryan Reynolds wasn’t the inspiration behind “You Oughta Know,” but it’s surely been re-dedicated to him. Morissette’s first album since her actor-ex took up with Scarlett Johansson, “Entanglement” isn’t the angsty slam “Jagged Little Pill” was. It’s ironic that as Morissette added both softer and harder edges to her pop - as she’s done here thanks to producer and co-writer Guy Sigsworth (Bjork) - she’s become less interesting. Or maybe it’s not. As Alanis know, it’s hard to get a handle on how to use that word properly. Download: “Straightjacket.”

R Kelly - Jury Begins Deliberations In R Kelly Sex Tape Case

The jury tasked with assessing whether R Kelly made a sex tape with an underage girl has begun its deliberations in Chicago.

The court was suspended on Monday morning, with the I Believe I Can Fly star accused of filming himself engaging in sex acts with a girl who prosecutors say may have been as young as 13 at the time.

And the video was screened again on Thursday as the prosecution made their summing up arguments.

Kelly's lawyer Samuel Adam Jr chose to quote the Bible in attacking the testimony of prosecution witness Lisa Van Allen, who says she had three-way sex with Kelly and the alleged victim on a number of occasions.

"Second Corinthians 11, verse 14. And Satan shall come disguised as an angel of light," he said.

"That is what she is. She is a liar. She is an extortionist," he added, making reference to Van Allen's admission that she once stole a $20,000 (£10,000) diamond-studded watch belonging to Kelly from a hotel.

And addressing the 'split' within the family of the alleged victim, with relatives both confirming and denying she appears in the video, Adam Jr argued: "If this was really their daughter, if they saw what you just saw, we would not be having a trial.

"Any solid man in that family would have gone round there and broken his legs.

"How many of the family even came in here and said they confronted him? Zero."

He also continued to stress, despite forensic video evidence to the contrary, that while Kelly has a "significant" coin-sized mole on his back - going so far as to show the jury pictures of the singer's blemish - the man in the footage did not appear to have a mole.

State attorney Shauna Boliker was more succinct in her summing up, describing the case as "concrete".

"It is here and it [the video] has got him on it with that child.

"This is not a whodunnit. It is a he-did-it. He is the child pornographer," she added.

Kelly faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of some 14 counts of making and owning indecent images of children.

Prolific output and remarkable creative thinking earned Andreas Tilliander tremendous accolades from the international glitch-techno community of interests during the early 2000s. The Swedish producer with a penchant for hip-hop inflections first effected himself at home in Stockholm. He side by side affected on to a number of small merely influential European record labels, among them Klanggalerie and Komplott, and then some of the larger and even more influential labels, viz. Raster-Noton and Mille Plateaux. During this geological period he released his music under a number of monikers -- Mokira, Komp, Rechord, Lowfour, and more -- just set up most success recording as himself for Mille Plateaux. His debut for the label, Ljud (2001), swept through the glitch-techno world, eye-popping all in its course. Its anomalous flair set Tilliander aside from his peers, and his constant turnout unbroken his name in the news. By the time Mille Plateaux followed Ljud a year later with Elit (2002), the producer had become a favorite among the glitch-techno tantrum simply as Vladislav Delay and Kid 606 had been before him.

Pharrell Williams: 'I want to produce The Strokes' new album'

Super-producer Pharrell Williams has told NME.COM that he wants to produce The Strokes' next album.

The Neptunes man, currently returning with his band N.E.R.D, revealed that he has already spoken with the New York band about working on their fourth record, which will be the follow-up to 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth'.

"Julian Casablancas and I collaborated on something with Santogold (a track for shoe company Converse) so I'm talking to him about their next record," he explained. "I want it bad!"

The Strokes are expected to hit the studio later this year, and Williams is hoping that, having worked with The Hives last year, the band will take his offer seriously.

"Julian and I were in the studio together," he said. "We came together and did a track for the commemoration of the 100th year anniversary of the Chuck Taylor [shoe]," he explained. "I really wanna do it. I don't know [if Casablancas wants me], but Id love to [produce the album]."
